Where We Stand...

03.13.09

There's so much information from the media thats negative about our economy these days. To put things in a better perspective of how our region is doing, we wanted to pass on some real life data related to our region.

Below are three documents related to unemployment for Clark County, Floyd County, and Economic Growth Region 10 (which includes Clark, Floyd and four other So. IN counties). So that you know, the January 09 unemployment rate for both Clark and Floyd Counties was 8.2%. That's the bad news. The upside is our unemployment rate is still lower than our region (9.2%) and well below the state rate of 9.9%. The U.S. rate was 8.5% in January.

The bottom line: our unemployment rates for both Clark and Floyd Counties are below the national rate, the state rate, and even the rate of the Economic Growth Region we are a part of.
