Our region was settled because of the Falls of the Ohio and that fact launched our area into its present day life as a major transportation center. The Clark Maritime Center offers outstanding services for economically shipping and receiving goods from around the world. The United Parcel Service (UPS) hub at the Louisville International Airport provides next day delivery to any place in the world. Our three converging interstate highways and rail services round out our transportation systems.

Clark and Floyd Counties serve as a regional employer - drawing employees from fourteen surrounding Indiana counties as well as several Kentucky counties. Your future staff and employees can enjoy the historic riverfront and shopping on both sides of the river, as Southern Indiana is a major regional shopping area for the surrounding bi-state area.

The climate of Southern Indiana, while continental in type, is of a variable nature. A range of low hills about five miles northwest of Louisville, on the Indiana side of the Ohio River, present a partial barrier to arctic blasts in the winter months. During colder months, snow is frequently observed on the summits of these hills when there in no snow in riverside communities.

As a whole, winters and summers are moderate. Temperatures of 100 degrees F. or more in summer and 0 degrees F. or less in winter are rare. Generally, March is the month of greatest monthly rainfall and October of least monthly rainfall. Snowfall, while seldom heavy, can occur during the months of November through March.

The prevailing direction of the wind is from the South and velocity averages under 10 m.p.h.
