Agency Mission Statement or Description:
For more than four decades (1965), Community Action of Southern Indiana has partnered with the Southern Indiana communities of Clark, Floyd and Harrison Counties to build strong families-educationally, financially, physically and mentally. Our agency offers community outreach, case management, Head Start, crisis assistance, linkage to services, Home Energy Assistance, Home Weatherization, small business training, financial literacy, asset building, and drug and alcohol prevention.
Over time CASI has changed in response to new and unanticipated needs of our community, but we have remained true to our original mission of empowering families and communities as they move toward the goal of self-sufficiency.
We are a 21st Century agency focused on Early Head Start, computer and job readiness training, Micro loans and technical assistance, and Neighborhood Center Services creating partnerships that fill gaps in services to low income families and supports us as “! family of Many Working as One”.
Economic Impact:
CASI understands the economics of our community and contributes as an active business partner. With a payroll of 2 million annually and purchase of goods and services of some, 5 million dollars we are poised for continued growth.
In 2010, 2 million in American Reinvestment and Recovery Act funding will be spent for creation of an additional 60 jobs in the Southern Indiana area. Also, contract services will be expanded to small businesses including minority and women owned businesses. These include contractors in our Home Weatherization and Owner Occupied Home Rehab Program.
The individual buying power of our eighty plus employees is an additional contribution to our community and each of those employees add to the economic value of a thriving not-for-profit.
Our economic impact stretches to the cities of Sellersburg, Charlestown, New Albany and Corydon where Community Action has facilities or contractual service partners such as the Salvation Army and Harrison County Community Services
