One Southern Indiana’s Business Retention and Expansion Program named Best of the Midwest by Mid-America Economic Development Council

 

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – (December 9, 2009) – One Southern Indiana’s work with existing Southern Indiana businesses has earned the organization a Best in the Midwest Award from the Mid-America Economic Development Council (MAEDC).  One Southern Indiana has received the first place award for it’s the Business Retention and Expansion Program.  One Southern Indiana accepted its award Monday, December 7th at the 2009 Mid-America Competiveness Conference in Chicago, IL.

“We are honored to receive this prestigious recognition from our partners at the MAEDC.” said Michael Dalby, president and CEO of One Southern Indiana.  “Since our founding in 2006, One Southern Indiana has worked hard to grow and retain existing southern Indiana businesses.  We are truly thrilled to be acknowledged in this capacity.”

Since July 2006, One Southern Indiana’s economic development efforts have helped area businesses add $256 million in new initial capital and 5,520 net new jobs worth $192 million in new payroll annually to the regional economy.  Most recently in 2009, One Southern Indiana has assisted in expansion and retention efforts for the VT Industries, Cook Compression, Flow International, Kemper Foods International, and several more.

The MAEDC’s mission is to enhance economic developers’ professional knowledge, capabilities and opportunities through multi-state networking, education and site selector interaction.  MAEDC membership includes professionals with an interest in economic development from the entire 10-state region (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin).
