Technological Innovations is the Focus of 1SI's 2010 Annual Meeting
One Southern Indiana held their second Annual Meeting at The Grand in New Albany on Thursday, February 18th. Over 350 members of the business community gathered for networking, lunch, and a brief presentation. The theme for the afternoon was Today’s Innovation for Tomorrow’s Business. Representatives from Techshot, the Purdue Technology Center, and Medventure all gave presentations on the areas in innovation that they’re focusing on, including Juvenile Diabetes research, business incubation, and medical equipment advances.
President & CEO Michael Dalby touched on several accomplishments of One Southern Indiana over the past year, which included 14 economic development project announcements that resulted in almost $43 million in new payroll, and $56 million in new capital investment into the area. Dalby also touched on 1SI’s role in connecting businesses to the resources that will enable them to be successful, including innovative ideas like small forums for both networking and idea sharing.
The annual meeting wrapped up with a short awards presentation. Awards were given for Chairman of the Year, to Kim Martin Dawknis from PNC bank for her involvement on various levels of leadership with 1SI; for Ambassador of the Year to Nancy Boman, First Savins Bank, for her work as a liaison between 1SI and the business community; for the Young Professional of the Year to Matt Oakley, Baker Commercial Group; and for Economic Development Partner to Mark Robinson for his work with the River Ridge Development Authority.
