Regional Web Portal Launches

Imagine a powerful, region-wide tool that changes the way people seek opportunity, increase their skills, grow their businesses and talk to their neighbors in southern Indiana and central Kentucky --- an online portal that links job seekers to employment opportunities, employers to talent, students to training, educators to training needs, and people to people.

It’s a job search site that does more than just post resumes and job vacancies. It’s a way to communicate regionally using unique social networking tools. Offering an unprecedented array of tools and functionality it helps workforce professionals and economic developers do their jobs more efficiently and better.

It’s kix.com – the Kentucky Indiana Exchange.

Community leaders and engaged citizens throughout the region have played a vital role in making kix.com a reality. They’ve taken the story of Wired65 and kix.com and shared it in all 26 counties of the region. Several community organizations and elected leaders co-sponsored a comprehensive regional employer survey that assessed the needs of area employers, the results of which gave us an accurate database to help plan for current and future workforce needs.

The development of kix.com was funded by the Wired65 initiative. WIRED – Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development — is a U.S. Department of Labor program. The “65” is symbolic of the interstate corridor that helps tie us together.

Regional leaders believe that by working together as one, we can accomplish much more than we can by working separately.

Kix.com provides a region-wide tool that will foster the highest level of collaboration. It will become the go-to source for the region’s students, workers, employers and entrepreneurs to find new opportunities and spread great ideas. It will be the glue that binds our region together.
