Centennial Graphics Group establishes headquarters in New Albany
Company to add 48 new full-time jobs by 2012
NEW ALBANY, Ind. – (February 19, 2010) – One Southern Indiana is pleased to announce Centennial Graphics Group’s plans to locate its headquarters here and eventually bring 48 new full-time jobs and $2.7 million in capital investment to the area. Centennial Graphics Group will function as an umbrella corporation consolidating several graphics, publishing, and bindery operations. This new corporation will also serve Automobile Heritage Publishing & Communications, LLC, an existing publishing enterprise based in Southern Indiana. Centennial Graphics Group will bring an expanded line of fine binding, foil stamping, and personalization and textbook rejuvenation to this publishing arm.
“Southern Indiana is the ideal location for Centennial Graphics Group in meeting our customers’ expanding needs,” said Gerry Durnell, president of the new corporation. “This project also leverages the strategic partnerships and core competencies from our publishing enterprise in order to fill a niche market that is underserved in this geographic region.”
Centennial Graphics Group’s divisions will include book repair and restoration of library and university volumes, a vinyl product line of customized three-ring binders and associated products, magazine publisher services, a sample book division for wallpaper and fabrics, custom publishing projects beyond the automotive market, presentation sets and diploma covers, foil stamping and personalization, and screen printing, die cutting, and perfect binding.
Along with creating 48 new jobs, the company is investing $2.7 million to further equip and expand its existing 60,000 square-foot footprint in the former Robinson-Nugent building, a 123,000 square-foot facility located at 800 East Eighth Street in New Albany. Automobile Heritage Publishing & Communications, which publishes Automobile Quarterly magazine, currently employs six.
“Centennial Graphics is a vibrant addition to Southern Indiana’s diverse business community,” said Michael Dalby, president and CEO of One Southern Indiana. “One of the publishing industry’s most respected automobile magazines is produced right in our own backyard – and it is great to know the company responsible for such an excellent product will be serving a wider range of consumers throughout the country.”
“It’s a great joy to see homegrown, family-owned businesses succeed in our state, especially during volatile economic times,” said Mitch Roob, Secretary of Commerce and chief executive officer of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. “We wish Centennial Graphics Group the very best as they grow and invest in Floyd county.”
Through the City of New Albany's Urban Enterprise Zone, Centennial Graphics Group will garner the benefits of phasing-in its property taxes while simultaneously increasing the tax base. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) has offered Centennial Graphics Group up to $30,000 in training grants from the state’s Skills Enhancement Fund and $235,000 in Economic Development for a Growing Economy tax credits over a ten year period.
“The city is delighted by Centennial Graphics Group’s decision to invest in New Albany and the Robinson-Nugent building,” said Mayor Doug England. “We look forward to their continued growth and success for years to come. This is a great way to start 2010, and we hope this is the first of many positive announcements this year.”
Since its creation in July 2006, One Southern Indiana’s economic development efforts have resulted in commitments for approximately 5,568 net new jobs in Clark and Floyd Counties. Centennial Graphics Group represents the organization’s 56th successful project location or expansion. Combined, these 56 locations will contribute more than $257 million in new initial capital and $194 million in new annual payroll to Southern Indiana.
