The Tribune wins 18 state press awards, second General Excellence award in three years

INDIANAPOLIS — The Tribune and its staff won 18 awards at the 43rd annual Better Newspaper Contest Awards on Saturday, sponsored by the Hoosier State Press Association. The Tribune won the General Excellence award, which is a cumulative award, and this is the second time in three years the newspaper was received the recognition.

“It’s great to see the whole staff recognized for their efforts to maintain quality during such a difficult year economically,” said Steve Kozarovich, publisher of the New Albany Tribune.

The newspaper competed in Division 3, which contained like-sized papers.

Award winners are:

• First place: General Excellence (Second time in three years)

• Second place best profile feature: Tara Hettinger

• Second place best newspaper design: Roni Montgomery
