JA Honors Four Laureates in Business Hall of Fame
The late Joe Huber, Jr., founder of Joe Huber Family Farm and Restaurant, Inc., in Starlight, Ind., was honored recently as one of four Laureates inducted into Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana’s permanent Business Hall of Fame in the Kentucky International Convention Center.

His wife, Bonnie, right, accepted for him as several tables of family and friends joined more than 500 guests at the gala dinner March 4. Other Huber sons and daughters included, from left to right in the center, Joe Huber III and Lewis Huber, Sr.; and, in back, Tracye Huber, Beverly Huber Engleman, and Kim Huber Kaiser.
More than 500 guests shared in the festive Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame dinner March 4 and were welcomed by Emily Hoffer, right, and Lauren Hoffer. At left are Doe-Anderson’s Dan Burgess, vice president, director, and PR strategist, and Todd Spencer, president and chief operating officer and JA board member. Youth were a focus of the program, which highlighted JA’s successes in teaching economic education to students of all ages in eight counties of Kentucky and six in Indiana.

Robinson, left, JA board member and Business Hall of Fame Laureate in 1998, stood tall with Dee Maynard, second from left, retired from Keystone Services, Inc., and one of four Laureates this year. With them are guests Linda Mand, Larry Mand, and James Kanning of Indiana University Southeast. Maynard, described as a “Serial Entrepreneur,” has spent her career buying, fixing, and selling small businesses and has served on the boards of several publicly owned corporations.

The evening honored four Laureates and highlighted major successes in reaching students with JA’s acclaimed economic education programs in the region.

Dan Ulmer, left, chairman of Louisville Bats Baseball, was one of four Laureates inducted into the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame recently and was congratulated by former co-worker, JA board member Don Gossman of Harrison County, Ind. Ulmer joined the late Joe Huber, Jr., the late Bud Hillerich, and Dee Maynard in being named to the permanent JA Business Hall of Fame in the Kentucky International Convention Center in downtown Louisville for their unparalleled drive, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit that have helped shape the region’s economy.

Southern Indiana business leaders joined more than 500 others at the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame gala recently.
