Southern Indiana knows you can never start too early and understands the importance of educating the youth in our community. Excellent childhood education programs are offered throughout the region.
The following are organizations that provide educational services to the youth:
Community Coordinated Child Care (4-C) helps parents locate and pay for childcare. In addition, the program offers training for childcare providers, provides childcare data, and advocates for children on a state and local level.
Community Action of Southern Indiana’s F.A.C.E.S (Family and Children Education Program) manages three program components: Head Start, Early Head Start and Learning Blocks Day Care in Southern Indiana.
• The Head Start Program provides services to 290 children (ages 3-5) in Charlestown, Sellersburg, Jeffersonville, and Underwood. The program develops intellectual, social, physical and emotional skills among children.
• Early Head Start helps new mothers and children from birth until age three providing information about nutrition, education, and prenatal services.
• The Learning Blocks Day Care provides childcare for children ages 3 to 5.
The Floyd County Success by 6 Action program promotes early learning and school readiness to children in the community. For more information please visit www.4cforkids.org.
