Build the Bridges Coalition continues to work on several fronts to get ready for the legislative sessions in Kentucky and Indiana and an active, successful New Year. Click here for the latest.
The Coalition now has a video that will be shown to lawmakers in both states and used to continue to build awareness about the need and support for the project and new legislation in Kentucky to provide more funding options. From this site, you can also watch video drive-through animations of the new downtown and east end bridges. Click here to watch the video
Legislative Update
Kentucky - SB 15 and HB 102 - two similar bills authorizing a public infrastructure authority to help fund major transportation projects - will be considered in the coming weeks. SB 15 is the bill sponsored by Democratic Reps. Dorsey Ridley and Jerry Rhoads of Western Kentucky. State Rep. Don Pasley, D-Winchester, is the sponsor of HB 102, which mirrors legislation (HB 689) he sponsored that passed in the House last year.
Based on initial reaction from key legislators, the Coalition's proposed amendment to allow for a local or bi-state will receive serious consideration.

Q&A
Indiana - State Rep. Steve Stemler of Clark County has filed HB 1226 to establish an Ohio River Bridges Project Commission to "facilitate and accelerate the completion of the Ohio River Bridges Project by reducing costs from further delays and developing legislative proposals as necessary to remove any hindrances that may develop." This is welcome legislation that could help in future coordination with Kentucky developments. Our Indiana government relations team has reached out to Southern Indiana legislators to make them aware of our efforts.
