The Southern Indiana/Louisville region's colleges, universities, community colleges, business schools and technical schools enroll over 52,000 students and offer a wide range of continuing educational opportunities. Following is an overview of schools serving the educational needs of the area:

Indiana University Southeast
Indiana University Southeast in New Albany offers 44 degree programs and is home to the Purdue School of Technology (a division of Purdue University) and The Japan Center, which oversees a regional Japanese Saturday School and Japanese cultural activities. University of Louisville
The University of Louisville, a state-supported institution, offers Ph.D.'s in 24 areas, including engineering, medicine, dentistry and law. The Speed Scientific School at U of L is a nationally recognized engineering school. The Henry Vogt Center for Computer Aided Engineering and Factory Automation at the Speed School contains state-of-the-art equipment for teaching and industry-related design and analysis.

Bellarmine University
Bellarmine University, a Catholic liberal arts school, offers master of arts degrees in business administration, social administration, education and nursing, as well as 46 undergraduate degrees. Money magazine has listed Bellarmine as a "best buy" among American colleges for five consecutive years.

Spalding University
Spalding University, founded by the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, offers master of arts degrees in seven areas and 22 undergraduate degrees. Spalding was named to the John Templeton Foundation's 1997-98 Honor Roll for Character Building Colleges.

IVY Tech Community College
IVY Tech Community College, a state institution focused on technical training, also offer numerous classes leading to a two year associate degree with transferable hours to other four-year institutions.

Sullivan University
Sullivan University, a private school, offers graduate and undergraduate degrees, in addition to one- and two-year programs with an emphasis on practical, career-oriented course work.

McKendree College
McKendree College, an accredited four-year liberal arts school, offers innovative and flexible education options. Most of its courses are available in month-long semesters and during evening hours.

Webster University
Webster University, based in St. Louis, offers graduate-degree classes in seven areas of study.

Jefferson Community College
Jefferson Community College, a part of the University of Kentucky system, offers associate degrees in science, applied science and arts. It is the largest comprehensive community college in Kentucky.

Indiana Wesleyan University
